About this blog

Cult Of Green gobbles up a sliver of the environmental pie that few others seemed to want a bite of. Too bad, sucka! I’m finding it kind of tasty.

My aim is to make this blog the go-to site for anyone interested in information at the intersection of the environment, the media and pop culture.

I first got the idea after Benyamin Cohen over at the Mother Nature Network asked me to consider writing MNN’s weekly “Media Mayhem” column. When I surveyed what other publications and blogs were doing on the general subject of media and the environment, I realized the answer was “not much.” So Benyamin and I settled on me writing “Media Mayhem,” and I figured that working on the column would provide a great opportunity for me to start my own blog on that beat and a bit more.

Cult Of Green will feature posts on environmental news coverage, green marketing efforts, greenwashing, environmental PR battles, the environment in pop culture, the environment in the world of culture and entertainment — you know the general environmental zeitgeist. Except that had I used “zeitgeist” in the name of the blog, people might have considered me a snob.

Am I leaving anything out? I dunno. You tell me. Do you have any tips for stories along those lines? Well, let me know that, too.

And if you’re interested in advertising on the site, email me as well.

I hope activists, journalists, marketing specialists, ad agency folks, communications directors, evil greenwashing genuises and anyone else  interested in the way environmental issues and ideas are conveyed will find this blog indispensable.

If you fit in that category — or if you just like my writing (aw, shucks) — you should stop reading right at this moment so that you can subscribe to my RSS feed. And if you want to receiving entertaining updates not only on Cult of Green posts, but also on interesting Cult of Green-type stories, follow @cultofgreen on Twitter.

Who am I to be talking to you in this way? I’m this guy.
